My first ripe fig!

Somehow the tiny figs on my Chicago Hardy suddenly ripened overnight. It tasted just right & not super sweet.

Anyway- I also have a question on if it's normal for a small fig tree to have a dry/deadish looking end at the cut end of the fig tree( near the top)?

ZenYang,
Thanks for posting the pictures and commentary.
Yes its normal. When cut the pith is damaged and the end dies back to the next sealed section, node or branch.

Congratulations on your first fig! That's always such an exciting event. I would suggest you allow your next figs to ripen a bit longer.

I would cut off the dead section.  It can be a portal for disease entry.  Cut just above the live tissue.
