I think that's last yrs crop!! Mine seem to swell, shrivel, then fall faster than most figs. So maybe it's last months fig.

Hello everybody,

I'm curious, is it that difficult to get a RDB? Are they rare and expensive because I can get them here for like $8

Can you get trees or cutting for 8 dollers. What rare in your area is very cheap in my area and vice versa. The nature of the beast. Richie from louisiana

It tasted like moldy lime flavored cardboard.  :)

This is not the usual for RdB.  This is an aborted fig as can happen on any tree.  I just figured those of you who were jealous of all those 9.5/10 figs might enjoy a laugh at my expense.   :)

Richie,
RDB, violette de sollies, dalmatie, sultane, and lots more from a French nursery was €6 . Panache , white Adriatic, violette dauphine, Brunswick, precose de dalamtie from my local nursery was £3.99, £3.59. All in 1.3 litre pots. But there are expensive ones like black Tuscan , cdd family . Baud sells for €36 I think for 2.5 litres. Mr pons sells cuttings for €5 ( could be more this year ).

I was wondering if pons would go up on his price. He might just be a nice guy !! Lol. He is a good man even if he goes up. They are the wanted fig varieties

Hi,
Funny ! Is that what they call "dead ripe" ? LOL . Although that one was dead before ripe :P
I'm still holding on to get that one, because of the supposed big size of the tree.
The last one I tried is "Pastiliere" -supposed to be a smaller tree- and I'm still biting my hands for that !

@kk2210: Are those trees TCs ? How many years do you wait to get fruits from them? Here it takes 20€ to get a fruiting fig tree, 8€ for a TC that will take her time to fruit (3 years in general).

Hi,

Yes he's an amazing gentleman . I don't think he will increase the price as people are not that crazy about figs in UK , In France and Spain they can easily get hold of varieties, but overall I believe if he sells cuttings for let's say €15 , then he might just get me and other EU forum members. But that's just my thought. Yes he got some amazing varieties. Love this guy .

Hi, yes they are not too big, maybe 2 year old but mine has got two main crop . The bigger ones are like £15 so maybe like $25. But I saw someone selling RDB for like hundreds of dollars . So I was just wondering if this was a rare variety.

When I need something I contact someone I know has it whether or not the person is local.

Hello Alan,

I know what you mean, just like Richie said, a rare variety in my area might not be so rare in yours and vice versa. I saw a brown Turkey For sale in a local garden centre last week , but the fig was green with dark red interior lol yes I picked a fig and ate it
