Got my Doree in 2011 as a gift from my girls mom.
She purchased it to a very cheap price at a local store comparable to which our U.S. users would call a Walmart.

It was sold as a tiny bush with many stems and wasn't in a pot but in a plastic bowl.
It had a printed label. I did a research today and found out it is still sold the same way on the internet:

 

What happened was, that it set some fruit this summer to the very first time.
And till the last week i never doubted this is the real deal, a Goutte d' Or... it had a shrubby groth habit, more kind of a bonsai tree with tiny stems. Five fingered leaves, slow growing.
Then the first fig changed colour from green to green with some redish stripes and then a brown/red...
waited for the right time to pick, but when i looked yesterday i found the fruit had changed colour again into a....please see yourself:

Taste was really nice although i had to pick it a little to early due to some ants chewing on the skin of the fig.
I am not quite sure, but i could see some similarities to my Rond de Bordeaux...

It really does resemble my ronde de bourdeaux also. That would be my guess.

Sometimes the mistake of a garden center works to your benefit!  Glad you are happy with the tree whatever it is.

Thanks Lilli for your input, but my (for sure) Ronde already gave me two juicy, berry maincrop figs with nearly 20 gramms. ;-)

Remember, due to my greenhouse i am able to give some of my figs an early start into the season.

I will compared it with Sultane in the f4f database!

What is different from my RdB is that when it turns colour it doesn't get those stripes and turns red/brown before final colour change...

Not a sultane . Check my post on Sultane.
This fig seems to be a maincrop from a unifera strain, because Feigenbaum grows them in pot, that gives the trees a head-start.
Dark, plus the round shape ... Whether a "Ronde de Bordeaux" or an unknown, but for now the best match would be rdb although the center seems a bit light colored for an rdb .
For sure, this is not a BT nor a "Goutte d'or" .

I don't think it's Sultane myself, leaves and fruit are not the same.
And you are right, my RdB has a darker flesh in the fruit...

I'd quite sure this is a ronde de bordeaux. My outdoor potted RdB made ripe fruits by mid of august this year. So ripening time is no argument against, esp. indoor. Also 20g is an argument. The leaves. Has it be growing vigorously because if it's definitly RdB

How do your Desert King and Triana perform?

By the way....I have the doree fig. Want to exchange cuttings?

Yes, a strong grower, but only since this year.
I believe that might be due to a too small pot at the beginning.

My DK and White Triana are still young trees. Rooted them in july, so i can't judge by now.

The leaves and fruit look indistinguishable from my RdB.  That, plus the early ripening trait, would definitely point to RdB.

Yeah, looks good, but not quite what was advertized. Could it be the soil and weather that changed it?
