My Italian fig ! Help ID

Hello This is my Unknown fig, which I was told was originally from Italy..
Help me ID this fig please and thank you.

Maybe a Italian Golden Honey?

If I left the fig on the tree, would the pulp have turned red? That is what my mom thought, It was Sweet, and tasted like a normal fresh fig. Should I have left it on the tree longer?

Also, when I picked it there was no milky sap that comes out of immature figs.

You could have left it a bit longer. There are many figs from Italy that looks similar such as Triana, Paradiso, or Napolitana, but not being fully ripe it's hard to tell.

I don't know how it could get any sweeter! It was pretty sweet. So if I left it longer it would improve in taste? I have 3 more on this plant, but they still are very small, and am debating whether to put oil on them or not. I oiled this fig, and is still tasted fantastic!

Good for you Aeilee, if it is that sweet then it is a keeper no matter what the name. Have patience with the other figs and you will be rewarded.

Thanks Brent ! Do you think this Could be an Italian Golden Honey? Or is it too "unripe" to tell?

I am not even close to an expert on identification, sorry. I know a good fig when i eat it though.

ok thanks for your help ! Maybe someone more experienced withIDing figs will help me ! Thanks

Aeilee

Not Italian Honey, and far from it.

Not Italian honey!

Thanks ! What would your best guess be of this fig then ??
I'm not sure. Could you help me?

Looks like some of my Kadota Breba's I picked earlier. Definately not Italian honey aka lattarula thats for sure.

Is it possible that later in the years the pulp can turn red like some kodatas? or will it usually be the same. Can someone please share their story of their figs changing drastically over the years, as in taste, size and interior color?

Thanks !!
Aeilee

Aeilee katoda are the 3 in the middle.

Again this is the Breba, is your fig a breba or main crop? do you have any pics of the leaves?

My fig was also a breba.
here is a pic of the leaf, I picked all my infected leaves so the virus does not spread.

Still think it is a Kodata? What variety do the leaves resemble?

Is that rust on my fig leaves?

Kadota Breba Yes,that is it.

Compared to other Kadotas, why is my fig small? Is it because it is the first year of fruiting? Will they get bigger in a couple years?

Yes, they will get bigger when the tree gets bigger.

Good. I have read, maybe the interior will turn red also, is this true? Its colors can change over the years?? the figs pulp is light, if this theory is correct, in a few years it is possible to have red interior?

That would be cool !

Aeilee

Aeilee here is another picture I found of another kadota breba I picked two weeks later during a very hot period. Notice the difference in the skin/pulp colour this one was delicious.
