My Lampeira

Well seems my Lampeira has a couple main crop figs on it, will it ripen or drop remains to be seen.

I have one from a very reputable source here and it doesn't quite look the same-figs or leaves.

I have the same questions about the main ripening but have read that it is a breba only.

But I did see somewhere that a person had it in Northern California and it ripened a main crop for them. There may be several by this name- like Pingo de Mel.

Hi Nelson
You have a lot of nice looking figs.
If you need any plants for the yard, like hostas, ferns, daylilies, bleeding heart, ... other stuff, let me know.

Hey Dom, this plant I got from Jon apparently from the Todd Kennedy collection we will see what happens. It is supposed to be a San Pedro type though I have read in portugal sometimes main crop would ripen but was of no value.

Hey Grant, just getting things sorted at home now. Will definately let you know shortly.

Your right about the worthless factor- read that too. Your leaves are nice and shiny. Mine are flat matte. I may be screwing up the breba next year by picking off the main figlets that keep forming. But I'll find out.

I have a couple of Portuguese varieties which have the dark, glossy leaves with contrasting white ribs (Madeira, Preto).  I like that appearance.

Beautiful tree, Nelson.  Fingers crossed!

Thanks Jason, it is a nice little tree I too got my fingers crossed lol. I too have noticed this with quite a few Portuguese figs my Bêbera Preta, Capelas, & Moscatel Preto also have glossy leaves with the white veins and a few other's I have.

Heres an update pics taken today figs getting quite big.

I picked on today, it has resisted rain well and didn't split in the two weeks of rain we had.

It is listed as a san Pedro type in Eisen book, but this is a main crop.

Here's my fig picked this morning. It had a very good flavor, but a bit on the watery side which is expected due to the rain storms.

That's pretty dead on pic for mine.
