My leafless figs show sign of life

Today is the 4th day that I recieved the leafless fig tress from Willis nursery. I bought 4'-5' LSU gold and 2'-3' Celetial from them, which arrived leafless. There are tiny leaf buds today, to my delightful surprise!! Now in a few weeks, if it continue to sprout new leaves, I will be able to ask you guys help in identify my figs!!

Here are some pictures, sorry if it's too big.

LSU gold is on the left and Celestial is on the right. LSU gold came with 2 trees, I was afraid to seperate them coz they are close together.

new leaves comeing on LSU gold

New (or may be old leaf bud that's been there but I didnt notice, it didnt look new) on Celestial

All in all, I'm keeping my finger crossed for my figs to continue to grow!! And will see if I get the one as lebeled or not!

It makes me wonder if they have a supply that is kept artificially cool and dormant for later shipping so they are not leafed and branched out causing larger shipping charges.

I dont know, but that's not the explaination they gave me.

This is the respond to the question why any leaves "They remove the leaves because of the heat wilting them.  Plant and water and it will releaf."

Anya,

I'm sure you have heard, but Willis has a bad reputation for mixing up their figs. I can attest to that fact. Good luck though! btw, the Celeste I received from them seems to be very prone to dropping the majority of its fruit. I am giving it one more season and then it will go in the burn pile. I already have a variety which drops only a small percentage.

I only said that since all the branches look hardened off. But if the leaves fall off there wouldn't the same thing happen with you? So if they plant and re-water wouldn't they get the same result as well. Just a bit weird.

Yes Ruben, I heard the horror after the fact. That' s not good if the fig kept dropping. we will see how mine is next year I guess, may be not, we will see!!

Dominick, I'm not sure if I understand it right, but I think your first observation sounds logical, only that when I asked the nursery, the answer I got was that they took the leaves off becaused it was wilting because of the heat. I dont really understand your second post though, sorry.
