My Magnolia Bronze fig.......

Here are a couple of pictures of the Magnolia Bronze fig that I have described in other postings.  I don't recall ever posting these pictures. It is good tasting fig that is very sweet. It can handle the rains reasonably well and is bug resistant.  It does not act like the Brunswick fig that was once growing in my yard and had to be sent to fig heaven for its bad performance.

IMO, Magnolia Bronze "might" be one of those "D'or" figs......not sure at this time. My tree has been rather slow growing and next year I am going to feed her one or two tons of fertilizer to get her really moving.......

What's your take on it being an Italian fig-i.e. like Joe Morle Paradiso.

My tree is a slow grower as well.

That leaf pattern and fig are very close to what I have as that variety. Shape of fruit is very similar to what is going to ripen.

Dominick,

This is yet another fig that I found years ago in Louisiana. The owner had ID'ed it as a Magnolia Bronze fig. I have no idea of its original origin.

I have  had the same thoughts/question as you......ie. is  MBz the same fig as Joe's Paradiso? I don't think they are the same. However, I have reached a final decision on Joe's fig. I will definitely be sending his Paradiso to fig heaven. Too many bug and souring problems with it in my yard. I have no doubt that is is a very good fig in drier climates than mine. MBz seems to be a different fig and worth trialing for another year or two.

I have to wait and see as well. Being from the same area as Joe here in the New England area- he talks up this fig as being good. But I have not been happy so far with it. Breba was blah. Will see on the main crop. 2 more years- tops.

I gave mine three good seasons and will be removing it.
