I took a big whiff on my Negronne today, which is leafing very well, several shoots, dozen or more leaves...man, it stinks! I've heard the 'cat pee' reference, and smelled it myself, but this young thing, whew...stinky stinky.
JasonWhere inside the house is it located. I was thinking of waking up one of the plants to bring it to the living room for leafing just to test an early start.
Ship it to CA and it will be fine.
Yes, It is a well known fact that enclosed(e.g., [E: while trasporting] in a car),leaved fig plants do generate a strong odor that is verysimilar to a tom-cat's pee.
But I thought men were immune to this smell? ;)I have it in the window with over a half dozen other plants in 20oz cups.I just noticed it when I was checking them out. I was smelling all of them, and the Negronne is by far the worst offender, smelled ten times worse than the others.
My wife complained all summer about the smell of cat pee from the plants on the sun porch and I thought she was being paranoid! I shall apologize!
Smells like fig trees to me, some stronger than others. Have no cats and want no cats."gene"
I love the scent of fig trees but then I've grown up with cats all my life. :-)Sue
