My Nephew's unknown

We ought to have one single thread for identification of unknown figs. Here's my request: My nephew Gene in Florida sent up some scions. They rooted readily. He also took some pictures. The most illustrative picture is attached/inserted here. He doesn't know. I don't know. Any guesses?

I don't know, I don't know, I don't know where I'm a gonna go when the volcano blows..........

Seriously, not enough information for any of us to ID your fig.  Need pics of ripe figs outside and in, and an entire mature leaf, flat with the figs on it.

Suzi

Thanks Suzi. I will pass that on to my nephew and repost. (Isn't that a fencing term?)

Ha!  It's simple Jimmy Buffet!

Suz AKA Parrot Head!

I've heard, and given plenty of ripostes, here in Da-Bronx.  Mostly unprintable, and very descriptive.  It saves time. : )

Anyway, we need pictures to ID your fig.  We anxiously wait!

Kind of a sport of mine, to play with words, not that I am any more than mediocre at it.  I told nephew to produce photos and expect he will comply. The tree, he tells me, is a start from a tree growing in ground in his yard somewhere near Jacksonville. The start however, is growing in a pot at the moment.

Here is a pic of the leaf. Sorry no more fruit this year until the scion finishes. The fruit is soft peach in texture and color and sweetens as it turns purple. The size is that of a small plum or very large grape.

Looks like a Celeste to me.

Woooooh! Very nice... Can't wait till you try it! Love unknowns! Who knows what you'll get, may be rare

Congrats!

I think you are spot on with that Celeste observation. I just took a gander at one the photos in Jon's varietal section and they are identical.
