Best Fig Forever? Thanks Ed for introducing us.

This is my very first ripe KB from a two year old tree, I was awed by her size and heft. All muscle...no fat.
Taste? When I picked this fig, a drop of latex came off the stem. 1 to 2 more days, she would have been a ten!

There are  many more coming, so we shall see.

Ooohhh, purdy! Can we officially say you are in Lust? <giggles>
There's a lot to be said about a man that appreciates a big'un. LOL

Just gorgeous Frank ! Looks like it has an open eye? When the others get ripe , would love to hear more about it's taste . Thanks for the great pics!

Nice work Frank
Take a slow bite and chew for me.  lol

yeah.. given time, she'll perform. mine is finally making me glad i didn't burn it.

That looks great! I have a KB being shipped tomorrow, I'm really glad I got it after seeing these pics, thanks for sharing.

Correct, Susie...Kathleen Black. A tier one fig.
As an aside, they are a little finicky to propagate.

Wow! That's just beautiful!!

thank you frank. another chapter in the continuing education of susie thanks extra for the propagation info. i guess i'll wait til i have more experience. i'm just now doing  my first cuttings.

Frank when mines grow up I want it to be just like yours. Until then I try to be patient.
"gene"

Absolutely beautiful!  I've gotta get one of these.  Thanks for sharing and for the description.

Frankie Tallahassee...

So....the dame finally showed you her stuff!  Good to see what she can do.  Her twin, in Da Bronx, is still savin' her goodies.  Am I confused?  Figs seem to be poppin' out of old wood?

I think next year, I will have to give my "KB" a bigger container.  Difficult fig, and seems to be reluctant when grown in a container.  At least for me.  Judging by the photos....worth the wait.

Nice.

Bronx Frankie

EDIT:

Frank, please keep posting photos and information re: "KB".

Questions:
1.  In ground....or, containerized?
2.  Do you/can you control water at the roots?
3.  Full Florida sun....or some shade?

i picked KB over CdDG... since i had no clue what CdDG was back when i started. tho gene did say KB is one of his favorite. this yr, it was good. but i think next two yr should bring real taste treat.

Well crap...just last night I put my spare KB to the side, slated for 'not needed', but I guess it is 'needed' again.  ;)

How many Franks can fit in one thread? ;0)

So, Frank, the tree is quite happy in ground in full Florida sun and rain wrapped in bird netting.

Over the next few days to weeks, I will make it my mission to taste a fully ripened fig and report on it.
