My own technique of air layer

Based on my experience, finally I found the best way for air layering (I was discover this method for about 4 years ago, and the result is very good)....
Let the pict tell more than words..
For better result, we can added root hormone (but the root on this pict is no root hormone additional)..

Wow, a lot of roots. How long does it take to produce so much roots?.

The roots will appear about 2-3 weeks. For maximum root, need 5-7 weeks.
Hope usefull for everybody (not only for fig airlayering)...

All looking wonderful, how ever bearing in mind that your temperature there
has a lot more heat and humidity than most places in the world,
hence  the rapid development.
Great results.

handarius,

Very well done and very instructive.
You cut that window on the bark close to the upper nodes..any reason?.. Thought it to be more to the lower nodes.  May be you wish the new born roots go downwards.
What sort of mix you use as rooting media ? and you leave the 'ball' in full transparency..or do you protect it with some  dark plastic plastic ??

Thank you
Francisco

lampo,

thank you for your appreciate..

I just thinking that the new roots grow from upper of nodes.

The media are mixed of: humus (from dry leaves) and soil (in the same proportion); but sometime I added cocopeat.

I am rarely protect the plastic, just keep it full transparency. But, in heat condition (dry season) I used white / silver plastic for protection..

Hope usefull...

Mine's bigger than yours mate!!
