My plants that didn't make it!

I planted the following fig plants in Nov. 08

Kadota (UCD)

Heirloom Tx Everbearing

LSU Gold (Dan)

Martins unknown (Martin)

I planted in March of 09
Hollier (JR)
Smith (JR)........this one leafed out real nice in the Spring, then dropped all it leafs, it is at a stand still with only green buds, the Hollier is doing nothing.

I will do as Dan suggested with all but the Smith (with the 8-8-8
Fert.

The only one that made it was Martin's (and even with protection
it froze to the ground, it is now growing great.

You could also give it a shot of diluted Miracle Grow All-purpose if you are just trying to jump-start foliage. With the cold and wet spring we are having, I did just that and they all responded with a growth spurt for the 2 weeks following. It's not a long-term fertilization regimen, but might give them the boost you are looking for. Longer term, I'm using Dynamite 13-13-13 slow-release with micronutrients on my potted plants - they are sustaining very nice growth.

Thanks Steve,

I have been using diluted M-G @ 1/4 strength.

But I have not seen any growth in the B. Marseilles VS

I am starting to get kinda worried about that one.

As always we appreciate your input.

My Kadota (Monrovia) in a container 5# didn't make it either (and this plant was indoors dormant, cold and protected.)  I will be autopsying it this weekend to see what did it in.

chills if your plant was cold and dormant it may still be alive by a chance.
check by scratching the bark if it is still green then it is alive

I had two small plants this past winter that were growing, dropped their leaves but still had bright green bud tips. They stayed like this for several weeks then finally the buds turned brown. It ended up being root rot even though I was careful watering. I wonder if something similar could be the issue you are having?

Steve
I really wish I had an answer to your question but I don't!

I just did as Dan suggested with the 8-8-8 fertilizer

Time will tell.

Thanks
