My Rond de Bordeaux

Looks nice!  Hopefully you'll get some fruit to taste this year.

That's wonderful! What is that you are using as mulch? I like the way it looks.

rcantor,I already  had  fruit(8)  last year …some very good.

javajunkie,This mulch is from pine needles.

Looks like a good start, I am guessing the pine needles are keeping away all the weeds?

I really like your stone wall, if I could find enough stone here for the right price I would build one, also do you ever get olives from your tree?

WOW, I wish my pine needles looked like that!

Chivas,
Yes, pine needles are keeping away the weeds and also maintain the moisture.

Actually ,I get olives from this particular  tree last autumn for first time…but it is a small tree.

However, this variety is cold hardy and promising  for my place.

javajunkie,
You are right…those pine needles are from a “special” pine tree - Pinus exelsa (Himalayan pine).

I have only that pine tree in my yard . But any pine will be ok I guess…

Today.....

Good looking plants and figs

And how looks the plant now....

Whatever you are doing it must be working cause tree and fruit looks real good.

Can you share what type olive tree that is.  I would love to find Olive trees here in the states cold hardy to zone 7.

Looks good, keep up the good growing.

Charitup,I dont know the real name of this olive tree. For commercial purposes it is sold under "Elite1" name. This variety is tested for 12 years,no dieback in winter in my climate...

Beautiful figs! I've tasted my first RdB last week and thought it was especially good for a first fig.

I noticed you painted the main trunk of your tree. Was it with latex/water 50/50? Any special reason? I've painted the trunks of some of my apricot trees and plum trees but never thought of painting my fig trees.

pako,

Very nice and juicy figs

AltadenaMara,i don't paint the trunk of my trees. It is just an optical illusion.

Thanks. Many fig trees develop trunks that are naturally almost white as they get older. My RdB isn't at that stage yet.
