Here it is in all it's glory! My 2nd Sal's fig that made it under the bird radar.

Just like the 1st one it was picked at the peak of perfection (no latex ooze from the stem). I still don't know if I can grow these but I sure as hell know when they are ready to pick! LOL

I truly do love the sweetness of the 2 prototypes that I've had. The meat just pulled away from the skin and I may have detected a small hint of lemon? Could just be my imagination. Anyways I'm fast becoming a Sal's Fan. Amazing!

Imagine next year! Maybe there'll be a nice be a nice plate full of those.
What other varieties have you acquired?
In zone 7b, there are lots of choices.

A buddy of mine came over (a few weeks ago) and tasted his first fresh fig...EVER!
It was a Sal's.

Looks good and your description sounds even better.  Which Sal's is this?

jdarden1963 - I have no idea what type of Sal's this is... you need to ask Sirlampsalot. He blessed me with it a few weeks ago. Hell, I didn't even know there were "types" of Sal's for cryin out loud! :D

cobb4861 - Thanks Mehgan! Lemme know if you want a few cuttings. <wink>

Ruuting - You hit the nail on the head! I am dreaming of the fruition of this tree. All the different ways it can be highlighted for it's sweetness in various recipes... OMG the options are endless! My forum benefactor also gave me a Celeste, a green italian, and some starts that were either Sal's or Hardy Chi's. We don't know which, time will tell. I have also obtained from other sources, a LSU Purple and a Petite Negra, which were tissue cultures so they have a ways to go. And another generous forum member is sending me more LSU's! Life is Sweet! :D
