My Underwear Ties

This morning i was putting some laundry away and noticed a pair of underwear that needed to go in trash as they seen better times.
I knew i needed some ties for my plants as i used up the ones i had before (Tee Shirt) so i figured what the heck why not. Actually i like the elastic waist band and it still can stretch. I have always used some sort of material instead of string , heck nothing wrong with underwear , shoot they used to hang on the clothes line along with every other clothing back in the day .

thats a good way to recycle. those would be better than string since they won't can into the stem when growing thicker. if more people follow your lead in the world there would be less trash.

I use old socks to tie up sagging branches -- see attached picture.  Sagging branches are particularly an issue with Desert King which likes to grow all sprawling and leggy; sock-tying the branches prevents them from getting snapped off when it gets really windy.

I try to hang out the laundry as much as possible.  Who cares if the neighbours count how many pairs of underwear are on the line.  Sometimes I even make a little game out of it, alternating light and dark colours for fun to make a pattern on the line.

Tettix,
yes socks work well also! Anything cloth so not to cut into branches, as like you we get the windy days here hecne the tying of the little ones till the trunks get bigger and the root system gets bigger to hold em.
My ties do dry out but its easy to replace as we know. I like your idea of alternating the clothes and about the neighbors counting and all but like you said who cares.

Martin I think this is to much information (joke)

Seriously speaking this is very creative!

I cut strips out of the plastic bag the paper comes in. It stretches a little, but is fairly strong.

I used the salvage from the Waverly kitchen curtain fabric. It was a Gone with the Wind idea. I love to recycle!
