hey hml I have one from edible landscaping and it is hands down my favorite it has such a complex taste and the figs have a beautiful purple color def my favorite hope you have success growing it!!

Interesting leaf shape for VdB.  Maybe because the leaves are young?

@ Jason. I had the same thought. My young VdBs don't have leaves like that. Those are different and much healthier.

@ hml597. Thanks for sharing. How old is your tree? I am interested in seeing the pulp of those figs and a mature leaf. Please keep us posted.

Yes young leaves are different than leaves IN August.
Yet my young leaves on my Violette look different too compared to the above pix.
Please post a new Pix in August to see if you really have a Violette de Bordeau, identical to ours or not.
Only in August leaves take their final shape,and it is possible to ID,easier.
As a Matter of fact,I suspect you have a healthy,Black Ischia,missing Fig mosaic virus,and not Violette.
If it is what I think it is ,then you got a very good cultivar there.
