my young maltese falcon

Last summer I bought a small maltese falcon from bass and even though it didn't grow but and inch or so it did put out a fig, I'm hoping it will get better cause there wasn't much flavor in it but I'm sure it because the tree is so small. I thought it would have been a little darker inside, but it was more amber.

Hi Ryan.
I have a Maltese Falcon that's about five years old, its over six feet tall, and it has yet to bear a fig.

Wow vito, that's odd, here is 2 maltese falcons from different sources and both put out figs while small.

From what I hear, it will be worth the wait.  I hope you all get loads of figs in the upcoming years.

Ryan, That's impressive.

Thanks guys

Hi Ryan,

I have not had any experience with Maltese Falcon, but my impression was that it was a quality fig. I am very shocked by the picture you shared! Seeing such amber insides on a fig really does not look that impressive. It almost feels as if it was unripe...  I have however, hear of many types of figs that bear fruit that do not taste great on the first year. And certainly, it does get better with later yields. Good luck with your growing... and thanks for sharing.

It was very ripe, I was planning on leaving it longer but it fell off just by moving the pot, I'm sure it will get better after it grows and I put it in ground.

All my first year figs seem to be watery with light flavor. I was impressed with my white Marseilles it was very good and did not split were as my lsu purple have been spliting. Raining everyday here. I have to say the purple are tazting stronger as more continue to ripen. And the purple continues to put out ripe figs every two days. White Marseilles full of figs and are slower to ripen but figs are huge
