Myrtle Beach SC Vacation

Hey everyone TONYSAC here long time no talk just popping in with a question.
Im hoping you guys can help.
Im in Myrtle Beach South Carolina and would love to get some cuttings from a local tree (wild etc) (or not) to bring back to Long Island NY im leaving Sunday in the am to head back to NY.
Thanks in advance everyone and ill talk to you later.

Bring your clippers. You will see a lot of fig trees down here. I was surprised once I started paying attention to how many people grow figs down here!If I was alittle closer I would bring you some but its about a 3 1/2 hour trip from my house to Myrtle beach.Have fun and happy hunting!

Im gonna look around i just havent had any time yet? Thanks for your offer and info.

I've posted a somewhat similar thread a while back, can't find it at the moment.
I go down to MB about every year, be back there next month.
If you're looking for fresh figs while you're there, there are farmers markets almost daily, in different locations. I've picked up some on a few occasions. Indigo farms is also a short drive away and they have figs.
I am going to try to find these mini golf figs..

Success!!!!! the last tree picture is in the parking lot (town property) right next door.
The trees are huge and everywhere in the golf course I went first thing after checking the forum this morning.
Thank you guys so much for coming through I knew someone would.
I have no idea what type of figs these have but if they root and grow etc I will be sure to post pics.
The cuttings are from the last tree pic in the parking lot right next to the mini golf.

Very cool. I will definitely be stopping there when I go in a few weeks. Were there fruits on any of them?

There where fruits on trees inside the mini golf but not in the parking lot.
When you pull into the driveway on the right of the mini golf theres a lot about 3/4 of the way to the end of it on your right that says private property blah blah blah directly behind that sign about 100ft there is the fig tree i posted ..the last one take pics when your here and post them I/we would love to see them.

The base of at least one of the trees has nice suckers!
Has anyone been able to harvest any? I'd rather get a head start
and higher level of success with small plants with roots & leaves
rather than hoping non-dormant cuttings develop. Another observation:
All the energy is going into root & leaf with little left for fig production.
Pinching would be a start in the right direction.

I was on vaca so hard to do anything other then grab a couple of cuttings and taking my chances.

So I also stopped by Jungle Lagoon today while on vacation down here, after playing a round of mini golf there looked to be around 6 or 7 fig trees around. I have no idea if they're the same varieties but I did notice the leaves differ on a few of them.
I didn't manage to get any cuttings but if actually on the course it would be rather easy to snag a few. Maybe next year if I make it back.
No fruit left on any of them I could find, but managed to take a handful of pictures. There were also a few banana plants around too.

Now when I go on vacation and my wife see's me pack my pruners...I'm going to have some explaining to do...lol.

Thanks for the great information!  I am leaving for a week at Myrtle Beach in 17 days.

If anyone has other fig sites (and addresses) along Coastal 17 from Wilmington, NC to Hilton Head, Sc I would sure like to know and I will stop there.

Thanks again!

@tinyfish : been packing pruners, baggies, little seed containers for years collecting seeds, cuttings etc. for plants of interest but only this year started thinking about fig opportunities. haven't gotten clippings from discovered fig plants yet but will be looking....
