Naples Dark

I've tried searching, but have not found any info about Naples Dark. For eg., are they early ripening or late? How cold hardy are they? I have several cuttings forming roots and leaves, and would like to know if I should keep them or give/sell them to someone.

Don't know if it is the same but Naples Dark could translate to Napolitana Negra for which there is forum commentary....

I'm sure that's the one. That is the person got it from. I'll have to ask if he ever got any figs to ripen, since his zone and mine are fairly close. Thanks for the reply!

Are those mine? If they are they are U. Naples Dark. I've posted about them here.

I've eaten them off of the mother tree. It is covered with a hoop house in the winter. I'd call that minimal coverage. The trunk is as big as my leg in zone 6. I don't know how early they ripen but I can say that they are still very good even when they ripen late in the season.

This same location has Naples Yellow (N/A this year, and Prosciutto). They are all very good.

Yes! Those are your wonderful cuttings. They are doing really well, as are the others. Thank you for the information!

Aaron - Did you get any details about the origin of these trees or that of the guy who grew them before? Like where he or the trees were from? Just curious....

Uhhh... Naples

LOL! OK. Yes, it's not the Naples dark from Cosenza. My bad... I thought perhaps his lot of trees or perhaps he himself didn't originate there. Or maybe he picked them up on his journeys. I take it then the same guy brought all his from the Napoli region? If so that's pretty cool.

Or maybe you were too busy eating figs to ask...  ;-)
