Napolitana Negra vs. De La Reina

The first Napolitana Negra of the season. Very prolific and very similar to De La Reina in productivity and taste. This one is a little smaller than DLR but it is the first one. It has a rich fig/berry mix taste that has a little tartness to it that makes it really delicious. The red color of the pulp near the eye is intense compared to the rest of the pulp. I am impressed by this fig. It is another keeper.

Leon,

How would you compare these to Mission types?

Leon, thanks for posting this.  I have found I also like a bit of citrusy tartness in figs.  I have a couple DLR figs that will hopefully get ripe before the end of the season.

The fruits remind me of Kathleen's Black, Maltese Falcon, etc...

Ross, I guess the texture of the figs would be along the lines of Mission types however, they taste different then your typical Mission fig.

Steve, the DLR figs are very good. You will not be disappointed. The tree is productive and the figs are good size. The size of this NN may not represent the full potential for this fig since this was my first fruit. I was so excited about eating a ripe one, I had to post my results.
