Narragansett Unk. fig not fruiting

I purchased a Narragansett Unk. fig that was at least two years old, 2 years ago, making it 4 years old. I'm in Zone 8b. I put it in the ground this year, and it still refuses to push figs where my others are really taking off. Is this a slow fruiting or late fruiting variety? Does anyone know what the true variety this is? Thanks.

There are three versions of Narragansett. Narragansett 1724 and Narragansett 1934 which are black mission types. Then there is Narragansett 5334 which is a white fig very similar to Adriatic or quite possibly the same. This one is a keeper. Produces delicious sweet figs.

Narragansett 5334 produces two crops. In your case. Try fertilizing it to give it a little kick start. That might do the trick. Good luck!

Here is a fig photo from my Narragansett 5334 tree.

Thank you Garden Crochet for the suggestion. I didn't know that there were 3 varieties.  This I believe, was supposed to be type you pictured. I will try the fertilizer tonight.  Hope you are staying cool. As you know we were at 107 degree's today. I stepped out the door at it's hottest for about 10 minutes to re- water the figs and check on the bee's and that's all I could stand. One more day of it and then a cool down. Be well.

I don't think any except 5334 have ever been distributed.

I grew up on Coronado Ave, i wish i was in to figs back then Point Loma and O.B i hear is a fig Mecca, i might have to go take a trip back home for cuttings!!

Noel, it looks like the old saying may have some merit...  when you buy a used fig tree, you're just buying someone else's problems!
