Francisco

What an awesome thread again Marius. Thanks for sharing.
Mohammad, outstanding video! I love that man! Now I know what to do with all those inground Celestes I ended up with ; )!
A couple of questions for our Arabic speaking buds!
1/ what time of year is it?(looks like very early spring)
2/ what is the goal? To heal the wound before any growth shows?
3/ why the plastic and then the paper bag hats?
4/ why question #3 on some grafts only?(the grafts on the rest of the trees look uncovered)
5/ where exactly is that fig heaven located?
I know it is a whole lot to ask so thanks very very much for any info!;)

For those of you who don't know, Marius is a super generous guy and will often offer high dollar ebay cuttings here for a fraction of their ebay price.  It makes sense to recoup costs on ebay first, though.

As for question #3, paper is often used to shade the graft union but I don't know anything about this particular orchard.

Bob,thanks once again for the great info! I was going through Marius' postings and sure am impressed with all the wonderful figs he grows! Very neat indeed! Does he offer the cuttings on the forum or do we have to pm him?

good looking fig...............

Generally he or Saxonfig will post when they have things.  Marius has been offering CdD cuttings on ebay for <$40 when auctions were going for over $100.

Hey Bob.

Just want to make a clarification here. It's not Marius & I that have dealings with each other, it's Mario & I (as in "mario" username). Mario is also in KY where I am.

Marius, on the other hand, has a few that I'd still like to have in my own orchard ;).

By the way Marius. I remain impressed at how healthy you keep your trees looking in zone 5. It's a passion isn't it? Good job man.

Old age creeps up on me...

so... for finalizing of the name purposes... Is this Sbayi or still unknown that Marius calls it Nazareth?
because if it's Sbayi, maybe Marius should edit the thread name so it would be researchable topic under Sbayi.
It's a shame for such nice thread to remain undetectable.

Marius just auctioned cuttings of this plant on ebay, and the description said it could be Sbayi, so it still isn't a positive identification. Kassoum mentioned it looking the same outside but the interior is more red than the Sbayi he grows. I wondered if Marius just let his ripen longer and so that is got darker. I'd still like to hear a taste description and any more about how it grows for Marius. I know not everyone can describe flavors well, but is it honey or fruit flavored?

Hi everybody.I would prefer to be called Unknown Nazareth fig.I do have enough unknowns varieties of figs from all over the world and I cannot just attribute them fancy known names, just to make them more valuables...I have one, two, five or even ten examples when an unknown fig, taste(to me),better than....black madeira, col de damas family or any other top quality figs...
Regarding the taste, still a young plant...has a strong blackberry flavor and I really love that deep red/bloody interior.Thank you,and more figs on table to all !HAPPY gardening !

Marious,
This fig is gorgeous and looks like it tastes as good as it looks.
There must be a reason the previous owners planted it in ground.
Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Ok This is what I hopefully look forward to buying with my birthday money next year.  Looks wonderful.

Good for you Marius, if this name is what you want it to be then that name is what it should be. Looks like a great fig from a person with a great attitude.
