Hi everyone. Need help and advice if i should remove the leaves that i think has RUST on my tree (I am not really sure if it is really rust fungus) attached is the pix of my tree on a pot.

I have a CdDN that looks very similar.  The raggedly leaves formed in-doors in the early Spring.  When I moved the plant outdoors and did my best to adjust slowly to sun the growth pretty much shut down.  The leaves that formed inside gradually took on the raggedy appearance that you are seeing.  Then about 2 weeks ago the plant started putting out new growth and the new leaves look fine.  So now I have a combination of new perfect-looking leaves and the old raggedy ones.  I am going to leave the old ones on until they fall off naturally.

I didn't think us Northerners had rust, thank goodness I've never seen it

Do you remember when did that leaf appear ? 2013 ? 2014 ?
That could be an aging damage on an year old leaf .
IT seems that the tree is not making new leaves ...
Time for steroïds ! I would say that that tree lacks of fertilizer and it needs more sun at least 8 hours to push strongly .
I would say that for its pot, that tree is too high/big. So I would pot up .
This cultivar looks like a big grower - thick trunk and big leaves- and to keep them healthy, they need a good pot and fertilizer ...
Unless you're trying to make a Bonzaï - but then, you've chosen the wrong strain for that - IMO .
We're still not late in the season for a kick of fertilizer to the trees - in a month in my Zone7 it will almost be too late - so if you decide to do something, do it quick .

I want it to grow at least around 6ft till i decided where to place/plant it permanently. Please give me an advice what fertilizer i should use and how much should i apply and how frequent should i gave my tree.

I use a balanced standard fertilizer - the blue small balls N/P/K 10/10/10 - standard for vegetables in the garden.
See what is recommended in the container of the fertilizer . My trees are in ground and they forgive a lot.
In a pot, you could have some saturation at some point.
I would put half a closed hand on top of the dirt each month or wait for the fertilizer to disappear from the top of the dirt - that means that you would be watering from the top !
Sometimes, I throw some small balls in the water and let them melt and water with that water - at a small closed hand full per 11 liters watering can .

It's difficult to find "Black Mission" without Fig Mosaic Virus.  It looks like your leaves are showing areas of blotchy coloration, and your tree may be infected.  I could be wrong.  If the tree is infected with FMV it will probably not be a vigorous grower, and the leaves will always have problems.  Keep it away from the rest of your trees, and keep an eye on it.  Try some iron-tonic which may help the leaves.

My first guess: Fig Mosaic Virus.  Do a search for photos: "Fig Mosaic Virus", and compare your leaves to the photos.  Good luck.

Thanks Frank for your observation. I will an updated closer picture of the leaves tomorrow. and post it here. I hope we can identify this if it is really FMV.

What kind of mix is it in?  Is it very heavy?  To me, it looks a bit muddy on top, like it might be a fairly heavy mix.  It may just be holding too much water, stunting it's growth.

IMO, The damaged leaf just looks old and worn with some sun scald damage. In a topic on Rust and how to identify it http://figs4funforum.websitetoolbox.com/post?id=6037427 the rust symptoms are visible as brown spots or discolorations on both sides of the leaf. The leaves should be left on the tree if they are mostly green and healthy, they are kept dry and you are not concerned with spreading spores. If the plants are healthy rust will cause minimal damage to the plant with a simple treatment regimen.

I would agree with James... DallasFigs that the potting mix looks heavy. When the mix is not well aerated the fig trees are stressed, have poor nutrient uptake which leads to visible nutrient deficiency and disease.

I have a black mission, it has severe fmv, but ti was the most vigorous tree I have had, it grew tons of blotchy leaves and would grow about 4-5 feet per season.
