Need an ID

So, can any of you dark fig lovers name these 9 varieties?

jon,

are these some of your unknowns that you are trying to identify or is this a challenge like 'name that tune'?

elizabeth

Name that fig. Just happened to have a nice group of red centers late in the season.

okay, jon, 'name that fig',

this very inexperienced fig grower  will throw some names out for fun.   this
is just my second season growing figs and i only have three different
varieties that have fruited so far; Italian Honey, Hardy Chicago, and Violette
de Bordeaux.  the latter two i haven't even learned to differentiate unless
they are in front of me.  and with all the seasonal, locational, etc. changes
you have described, i will be surprised to get any correct.

it would sure be nice to see a photo of the cut side of the 'october 3 harvest'
group in the same positions.  maybe next year you can do that comparison.
when i see photos of bunches of figs on your website, i wonder what is
what.  they are beauties!

here are my guesses.

1.  Black Ischia
2.  Adriatic
3.  Yellow Neches
4.  Italian Golden Honey
5.  Falls Gold -  Brown Turkey
6.  Unknown Pastiliere
7.  Hardy Chicago
8.  Danny's Delight
9.  Diredo

Say Jon,

Do you still have the record giving the names for these figs?  Don't know if anyone else is curious, but I would like to know what they are.

Elizabeth

The one on left looks like from madeira family the one on right looks like one of those type of figs that are newer variety like the ones that have numbers from UcDavis.
Jon its not nice to keep us in supsense to long please.  ; )
Martin

I'll (take [EDIT - hey edit still works!]) a quick shot at 4 of them:

1: Marseilles Black (or HC? or Sal's-EL?)
7: Pastiliere
8: Paradiso
9: LW? (one of them is...)

I guess that the "edit" feature was taken away...

Admittedly, I had forgotten about this post and will have to look for the answers.

Edit is there: scroll right, because of the width of the picture.

OK call me stunad, i only saw 2 figs on my old tube like looking TV for a monitor till i just now scrolled over to right to see them all,
 1 Sals or madeira
  5 hardy chicago early
7  Black Ishia or hardy chicago late season
6 best to eat and want to know!

If i had chance to taste i would taste the above before the rest as they look appealing to me very much.

And see Jon there ya go keeping us in suspense just like i predicted several post up from this one!!!  i forgot about the post ....... Hmm from Oct 27th?

Cut it out will ya  :)
Just teasing you
Martin

Martin,

Yes Oct 27, but 2007...

John i am sorry i  thought this was from this year , this is first time i seen it , i need to start looking at the dates. Is there a gypsy fig  there ? Seems maybe col de dame there as well not sure of that spelling but several that possibly look like it? When you find out please do let us know and thanks.

Jon,

Still waiting for you to ID these figs.

Elizabeth

Jon,

I know you are over loaded, but I know most of us would love to see you ID on those figs.

I think...
1. Sal's
2. Parasido
3.  Adriatic
4. Arteano
5. Celeste
6. Pasterilie
7. Marseilles VS
8.  Calvert
9. Danny's Delight

Still don't know where the answer key is.

I'll take #'s 1, 6 and 7 ;)

Jason,

Not a fan of green figs I guess.

I prefer dark figs too.  I have a small Col de Dame.  I'm hoping that when it matures and produces fruit it will change my mind.

Maybe some more guesses can jog Jons memory, in the dark catagory

number 1 kinda resembles R.Watts  <<Zidi>> last row first fig after clicking front page

number 5 ive seen similar on his site also a dark type.

number 6 looks similar to << Unknown Pastiliere>> picture of front page of listing

number 7 looks like similar to << bifara not >> picture on front page of listing

just a guess to maybe jog his memory.

Light color figs i have not interest in.
