I've been growing this fig for about 4 years. I got it from a friend who bought it in Central NJ many many years ago from a place called Coraddo's. It will survive Central Jersey winters but die to the ground. It needs to be grown in a pot or protected to fruit. It has a red eye when immature and it is a closed eye. A nice tasting fig too. I would say it is a little reddish in color, not sure if that will show on the pic. Often the fruit is not uniform in color on the outside with light and dark areas of the skin. Any ideas???

Brown Turkey?

That thought crossed my mind too, but then the closed eye and the good taste led me to believe it might be somthing else.

My English Brown Turkey has not produced more than branches for the past couple years so i cannot say for sure. Is that fig from a potted plant or an in ground tree?

It's from a potted plant. The parent was grown in ground and still does not produce as my friend offers it no protection and it dies down to the ground each year. Another reason I thought this might be something other than BT as BT typically will fruit the following year after dieing down to the ground.

Looks like a regular old BT to me.
