Need help identifying a possibly Portuguese fig tree :-)

Hi guys,

I bought a fig tree last week, my very first, but I have a problem:no clue as to which type it is. The people at the shop don't know the type either *sigh*

All I was told was that it came from the Algarve (south of Portugal).

I want to know which type it is because I read that some figs need wasps to mature, and I have mine indoors.

The fig itself is green when ripe. Today the only ripe one dropped, I will be cutting into it soon.

I'll drop some photos here so hopefully someone from here can help :-)

Thanks for reading!

(p.s- can't seem to attach the photos for some reason, any tips? Using .jpg, they are on the editor, but won't actually attach)

Check out this post I placed in another fig-loving forum, it has some of the photos I took. Please scroll until the end, I just added a new one.

AnaCosta: Very come to the Fig Forum.

Best,
Tam

Thanks Tam :)

The one ripe fig I had didn't look so good. It was way too milky to be good, it didn't smell like anything, the taste was over-ripe, and there was something white, resembling a fungus in the center of it.

Either way, I'm adding a photo in the same link in case it helps.

I'm starting to think it it a Pingo de Mel. I think it's Honey fig in English.

Thanks Dieseler:-)
