I have some cuttings that I rooted last year.  I have them in 2 gallon pots. They are about 2 feet tall.  I'm planning to give a few away for people to plant.  What kind of instructions do you recommend  that I give them?  Should they be planted a little deeper than they were in the pot?  How about pruning them back at planting time ?  Do you recommend some slow release fertilizer mixed in the hole?  I am in South Louisiana.

If the people want a bush, prune to about 18" before they break dormancy. If they was a tree, leave the alone - or prune to one trunk.

Fertilize after they are growing in the spring. They will not use fertilizer until they break dormancy.

A little deeper is OK, but not necessary if the current soil level covers the roots.
