Negretta figs taste sweet and they are very good. These are the pictures of Negretta: Chris Black figs taste a little sweet, not as sweet as Negretta. These are the pictures of Chris Black: Smith figs taste very good. They are sweet. These are the pictures of Smith: Violette de Bordeaux figs are very good. These are the pictures of Violette de Bordeaux: I bought this Brown Turkey at a nursery in Northern Virginia last week. When these figs turn to totally black they taste very good and sweet like the figs of Smith. These are the pictures of my new Brown Turkey: I hope that everyone likes my fig photos. Thank you for watching. Best, Tam

Nice pictures and thanks for showing them. As a note your Vdb could use more time to ripen fully and you will see the difference in taste. ; )

Very nice photos. The inside of my Brown Turkey (or at least what I have been calling a Brown Turkey) is definitely more red than the photos you posted of yours.

Great photos and even better figs. Tam, what you have labeled as brown turkey is not the Monrovia brown turkey that's so despised. Yours is a different beast all together. I'm glad it's good!

Tam, is the Chris Black an unknown fig you found locally? Any information on the history of this fig. The fruit is quite large.

Steve: Negretta and Chris Black are from Al in Bethesday. I have Smith, Violette de Bordeaux (Negronne) and Brown Turkey. Al told me that Chris Black is very good. Last week, I tasted 2 good and sweet Chris Black figs at his house. However, this morning I stopped by his house and asked him to give me one for the photo. I looked around his tree and asked him for the fig that I photographed. However, as soon as my fingers touched that fig, it fell on the ground. This could be a reason caused the one I got did not taste good. Currently I do not have cuttings of Negretta and Chris Black yet. I had asked him a few times for these cuttings, but he said NO. Recently, he said maybe in this fall he will sell me these cuttings. Best, Tam

After my wife got home from work, I let she taste one Brown Turkey fig, which is not fully ripe and one fully ripe Smith fig. She told me that she like the taste and texture in the Brown Turkey better than the Smith. This Brown Turkey has a lot of rootbound. But I wait until all the figs are gone before I repot it. Best, Tam

Tam,
What you have as a BT is completely different than any BT I have seen. This will be one to watch.

Hello to everyone! I like the taste of my Brown Turkey so much. Therefore, today I came back to the nursery where I bought my Brown Turkey. I got there at 1:30 pm. Guess what a person below bought all 4 Brown Turkey trees that the nursery had left. Two of which are identical to my tree and the other 2 Brown Turkey trees are bigger and larger than mine, but the leaves are different from my Brown Turkey. Surprisingly, I saw only one nearly ripe fig on one of the large Brown Turkey trees. That fig had a shape like a regular Celeste, but the size was smaller than a regular Celeste. Its diameter was just little smaller than a quarter. It had a blackish red skin with red pulps. It had sweet taste, but not a lot because it was not fully ripe yet. Good luck to the person below. Best, Tam

Hello! Everyone,
This is Chris Black. This one was much better than the one pictured above. It had mostly figgy flavor with very sweet, crunchy, jammy taste. The skin was a little chewy. If this tree were growing in the ground, I am sure it will produce excellent figs.
Best,
Tam

Your pictures are amazing, excellent close up shots with clarity. I'm thinking your Brown Turkey was mislabeled, it seems to me the color and shape don't match most BTs I've seen
