Negretta July 2017

Picked some Negretta this afternoon. They were very sweet, jammy and has nice seed crunch. My tree is  about 3 years old and it started ripening fruit in mid July.

Ateeeq, looks good!
When you have a chance, could you post some leaf pictures?

Wow, Those are beautiful figs!

Thanks Ed and Tad.

Ed, here are some pictures of leaves. We had pretty heavy rain last night, but we desperately need though. Thanks

Thanks!  Does it ever have more deeply cleft leaves?
And what is the source of your Negretta, if you don't mind?

I am curious because I have an unknown that was passed around among forum members several years ago that became known as "Jason's Unknown Black Ischia" because the finder initially thought it might be B.I.  Later it was shown not to be B.I. by those trying it out.  Vasile, or Herman2, a former forum member and fig expert, thought it was Negretta.

Mine has pink stems like yours, the figs really look similar, it is an excellent flavored fig especially if left to get almost over ripe.  But my leaves are mostly cleft deeper, somewhat similar to VdB

Ed, I haven't noticed any deeply cleft leaves. I got this variety from a collector in Bethesda, Maryland. You are absolutely right this is an excellent tasting fig when it gets over ripened.
