They look very tasty thanks for posting the pictures. Marius when are you going to post pictures of light colored figs :)

  Peter

Peter,i believe that i'll stay on dark side...

OOOHHH my goodness , this is such a must have for me. Beautiful Marius!

That does not look like Negretta.
Mine matches the description below .

According to Gustav Eisen -Negretta— F/fvf.s nigra Risso; Ficus erin. wax. saxetana Geny; Rock Fig.—Two
crops. Second crop medium; about 2 inches long by \i inch wide; egg shaped,
rounded, similar to a small Douciueira. Color shining black, with blue bloom;
skin thick, firm, adhering to the pulp, which is pale yellow and of good quality
when fully ripe. Many seeds. Thrives well in the rockiest places, where no
cultivation is possible and where no other tree except the olive would thrive.
Nice and Provence. Is recommended for places in Arizona and southern California
where irrigation is impossible

Ok , doesn't take much for me to get confused in this fig world !  Can you post some pics when you get a chance Martin ?
I would love to see your Negretta. It sounds wonderful and in my pursuit of Negretta , I'd like to make sure it is indeed Negretta and what to look for. Are there 2 varieties ?

Martin, nice description,i agree with that one.But...this is what I have under the "Negretta" title,3 years old.

Marius i understand where you coming from but to keep confusion out as there is much in fig world yours should be labeled as unknown.
Mine from 2008 and can be traced back to fella that first introduced to States from Italy.

Negretta has yellowish interior with splash of red when mature but never red pulp and never leaves as yours display.
I can show you Negretta if you like .

I haven't tasted it yet myself, but I'll take your word for it. It sounds like the perfect fig - vigorous plant, fruit that is dark inside and out, small, and full of flavor.

The cuttings I got from this particular cultivar are doing very well. They rooted easily. Very attractive, distinctive vegetative growth - like no other I have. I can pick it out of the fig crowd very easily. Thanks again. :)

mnedelcu: Your Negretta is different from this Negretta.

This tree is mine. I just bought it for $50 dollars.

Best,
Tam

Tam, may I ask where you got your Negretta from?

Wow Tam that tree is beautiful and so are the figs ! That was a great price too!

Martin, I'm sure your Negretta is delicious but I have to admit, the pictures Marius posted look little pieces of heaven.  No matter what it turns out to be, I'd love to buy some cuttings from that one if they are ever available.  Thank you Marius and Tam for the pics and descriptions.

Both look really fantastic! Marius, I love the leaf shape of yours.

Jules I was thinking that also. I may have to have them both !! Just to compare them of course .... I sure hope that cuttings of each come available this fall/winter....

I thought that the "Fig of the Day" part of the tittle was reserved by/for the host of this FF?

BTW, you still have not fixed your camera date settings...

Mike: I bought my Negretta from Tina. She got her cutting from Al in Bethesda, Maryland, his tree is above photos. She has 2 Negratta trees: one tree is in the ground and the last one is the one I have with the figs. This year 2013, I bought one Chris Black and one Dalmatie from her, but both of that trees came out to be Brunswick.  I am now very carefully in buying fig trees from her. Thank you.

Best,
Tam

RdB [leaves]?

Whatever it is, it looks great and if I had the space, I would be hankering for it until my wife gave in.

George no not Ronde .
The leaf shape reminds me of plant i had for very short time i think it was called valle calda or valle negra something along those lines it also was from Italy.

Not saying thats what it is just reminds me of it, but Negretta can be ruled out.
No offense to OP.

No, as Martin said. I have them side by side (Marius' Negretta, and RdB), and while both are distinctive from all others I have, and both with deeply cut leaves, they are definitely different from one another. Growth habit is different too.

OK,i will call mine Unknown Negretta, enough confusion in world figs !
George,i just fixed my camera.
Thank you all.

Unk Negretta - works for me. :)

A wonderful fig by any other name is still a wonderful fig.

I'll plant it next to my lovely Unk Pastiliere - another winner.

Gina your'e so right. I've just read some posts about the Unk Pastilliere and that too has been put on my future list.

Martin ,
Could you post pictures of your Negretta leaves ?
Or do yours look the same as what Tam posted ?
Tried to look at your previous pots on Negretta , but pics have been removed.
Looks like I have Unknown Negretta rather than Negretta , but just want to be sure.
 Thanks .
