I have one lonely breba out of all my young trees and I am cherishing it. It's growing on my Negronne tree that I purchased from raintree. It is my understanding that Negronne is also known as VdB.

I am in love with the pink tones that are slowly wrapping into it.






I have a question about the leaves on this tree. Out of all my trees it is the only one with leaves pointing downward, in a weeping fashion. Is this considered normal growth habit? The whole tree seems to be growing like this. None of my other trees are mimicking this particular growth habit. If this isn't normal, what is up?

The Negronne I had was a heavy producer. If this holds true to this variant then you will not be disappointed. Just give it time.

I'm tickled pink I have any breba at all since this is my first year with them - no complaints here! First fig tree landed in my yard in February. I hope you are right. I look forward to many more in the coming years.

When leaves on my VdB do that, I usually check if it needs water. Or too much water. Then again, yours might be different from mine. Mine is 3 yrs old and has about 70 figs on it. Love my VdB :)

If you look at the last picture there's a group of three leaves. Look at the stem of the leaf in the center. The plant is fine, just the way the plant is.

It could have to do with Nichole quite possibly moving the plant from location to location. Just my guess.

It's a reasonable guess, but it hasn't moved from it's spot since I planted it last March. The tree itself looks healthy. Just a curious growth pattern that I'm trying to figure out.

If thats not rain wetting the leaves try not to hit them with the sprinkler.
Its funny but not actually funny in the sense ha ha,  but too little or too much water will  make the leaves droop downwards, just that too much will eventually make leaves get black on them and too little yellows them if left to suffer to long and once yellow they will eventually fall off and new ones will grow if water needs are met again.

Oh that's just good ol' Seattle rain. We had a nice warm sunny streak followed by rain rain rain. The shift in weather hasn't changed the growth pattern. This is how they sprouted and this is how they have stayed. I thought they would grow out of it but... guess not :)
