Between Oct 1 and Oct 5 we had 8 inches of rain here in my location.
Many ripe fruits on other cultivars just split soured and exploded during this time and is continuing to do so,now due to extra water in soil.
Sicilian Black Sal Corleone ,Violette de Bordeaux,Atreano,Marseilles black vs,even some Longue D"Aout soured,especially the ones with open eye,but Not Nero 600 M.
Here are some ripe fruits today,from one of my younger trees I have in ground.
This cultivar is undervalued because ,some people insinuated ,that it is identical to Violette de Bordeaux.
In rainy Summer season,Violette de Bordeaux, is totally useless ,and sour,splits and will not ripe properly.
So Read my lips,Nero 600 M,is a champion,in adverse climatic conditions while Violette ,is champion only in beautiful long hot dry Summers,and tho fruits look similar,that is all they have in common.

That's a nice looking fig and sounds perfect for your environment!

I think I will update my wish list.

It grew from Total die back for the last 2 years.
It is ,in front yard and ,can't be Winter protected,because of city code,regulations.

I have seen someone post that Nero 600m was similar to Valle Negra - do you have experience with that variety to compare?

Anyone know where i can find this variety?

That's good to know.  My trees are still very young.  I will put them to the test next year though.  I'm curious how hardy it is though for my climate.

I do not have Valle Negra,to say for sure ,it is the same cultivar.
From what I have seen,Pixies on this site,of Valle Negra,My opinion is,that yes is similar.
However ,The health of the 2 specimen might be different,which will make them produce more or less fruits,and resist more or less to Winter cold,in northern climates.
As for Nero 600 M ,i can confirm it is totally healthy and ,because of it ,it will grow back fast,in the Spring,to make it possible to ripe fruits even after total die back in the Winter.
As Proof,look at ,the plant above:It was ,the third year ,as age and it was planted from beginning in that spot,it died both ,harsh Winter we had in 2014 and 2013,and so you can see the ripe fruits,now,and yes they are late ,much later than ,normal but ,enough early not to be killed by frost before getting ripe.
That is ,good news for north east,and ,for northern gardener that ,are willing to grow in pot,and use the ,method of  the buried  pot 3 inches down,in a sunny spot.

looks great, all of my plants were overwatered in the rain and all of them split except for my sals and honey.  ill have to get a nero for the next season.  we got pounded by rain for a week in NY and now the leaves on most of my plants are starting to yellow or get black spots on them and the weather is now 70 during the day and in the 40's at night.  

Herman I am surprised to hear your VdB splits in the rain.  I've had one in my greenhouse all summer, which has gotten extremely humid lately and it was one of the few figs that didn't split.  The one I have outside in a 5g SWP hasn't split either.  My Negronne (30g swp) on the other hand splits terribly.  My Nero600M has been as you said though and has not split at all. 

A few years ago,it opened like a rose in bloom,on me and on Gorgi another ,Nj grower.
This year only split soured and were inedible but ,a few years ago it did not even look like a fig fruit!.

Here it is in 2011,and this year was ,like in 2011,but 2007 was worse ,that is when here and in george Backyard,it looked like open roses.
Otherwise ,a couple of years ,from when i grow it,Violette de Bordeaux made the best tasting best flavored figs ,here.
