Nero 600m 8-8-14

Third year in ground tree with small, sweet, berry tasting figs. Skin is a little thick but not tough. Some seed crunch. A little more time to ripen and little more time for tree to mature. About a 7.5.

My little tree is growing like a weed, really quite impressive, but no fruit this year. I expected a higher rating. How does this compare to Sal's (any of the Sal's)??

Looks great Mike.  Visually, it looks like a 10.  Hoping you get that 10/10 flavor from your future 600s.

Frank/Rafael It is a good grower, nice looking fig, has a lot of potential from what I have heard/read. I don't know if it is my conditions in
ground or just needs more time. When I try to give it a number (7.5) I attempt to do it on its taste alone. However, with so many
different fig varieties (70) to taste this year, I have a tendency to compare.

This is the first season my nero 600m is in ground. It is a good grower and I only was able to taste 2 so far and I was real happy with it even though they ripened in monsoon type rains. I hope you get your 10 out 10 eventually.

Looks good!
How is the taste compared to a VdB?

I'm curious to hear the same.  While we're at it...RdB comparison too!  ;)

Looks like my Vallecalda. Can you post a few pictures of the leaves? Thanx much!

I would say it is closer to VdB in looks and taste.

I understand they are the same as per Herman2.

Very nice Mike. Here is my Nero 600M today. Growing nicely, I received this from Tim Clymer last fall at Tim's Fig fest and it was substantially smaller. It has exploded this year. Thanks Tim!,   anxious to taste one of these.nero600m1.JPG   nero600m2.JPG  nero600m3.JPG

Coop, thanks for sharing your tree. Interesting that mine is in ground as of this spring and it grows much more dense than
yours in the pot.

Looks good, MIke.

Thanks for sharing.

Rafed, do you have this one?

Yes I do Mike.
I need to move it up in a bigger pot. Hasn't really produced yet. I think it has to do with its' growing environment. That will change soon.

Thanks btw
