martin, we'll know when we see the figs.  looking good.  its mother is absolutely zooming this week.

as far as your fear of the yellow fig, i think there had to be a traumatic moment in your life....  maybe you were beaned by a yellow ball when you were a kid?  i think the forum members can help you work through this :).

i got a nice lemon fig with your name on it :).

Mike i hope you wrote my name in invisible ink so you forget about it, if you sent one to me i swear on my "figs" i send back and it might be droopy by then.   ; )
Please no no.
When younger i had many light color figs that dad brought home from the Italian club on sundays from many of his different italian friends.
Some were bland most were outright sweet and some had a slight berry and or honey taste i recall.
Dad also brought home dark figs as well and those were always my favorite as dad used to say " Marteen whats wrong with those white ones" and i would reply "dad i just like the dark ones more" dad loved figs it did not matter to him what color they were.
Really i have nothing against the white figs and im sure there are many on par with dark ones but long ago i decided to grow just the dark ones.

 Martin, I'm beginning to agree with you to a point. I do like some of the light figs I've tasted but my "fig palate" is still very young. Time will tell. Your Nero plant looks so healthy as all your plants do.

this is discrimination.

Martin, there was a time that I thought dark figs were better, and many of my faves are dark, but there are some light/white figs that are to die for.

When I was little, my grandfather had fig trees and they were themost disgusting fruit on earth, I didn't even want to get close to the trees, Things have changed.

I have a young  Smith tree, but it is more interested in growing than figging, which is fine with me, for now.

Who can tell me what the taste of the Smith fig is like?  It's yellow and the only light fig tree I have, but wanted to play, so I got one.

Thanks,

Vivian

RE Belleclare Nero (desc):
5.  NERO (Italy) (a) large, purple-red (wine color) dark center (2 crops)

This is ALL what I observed (pl. do not repond with more questions...):

A very vigorous upright tree.
Not particularly productive (possibly due my choppings), but it always gave
me some figs.
Nero suggests a black color (it is NOT so!);
the fruit I get is of a constant medium-brownish skin.
Size=medium
Shape = roundish
Pulp = amber (my best recollection)
Taste = average

Different from other figs I have...
