Neros

Getting close to the last of my Neros. Could have benefited by a bit more sun but still quite yummy! After all it's the middle of October.

Looks good

can you please share a picture of your Nero plant's leaves?

I'm curious to know why you refer to these as "Neros". Is that the name of a particular variety?  I too would be interested to see the leaves because these Neros resemble my Aldo's Palermo Red aka by many other synonyms. Thanks much!

Here's a picture of the plant. Hopefully you can see the leaves.

Hi Njfred,
Who named that strain with that short name ?
Is it an "unknown nero" ?

The leaves resemble those of my Aldo's Fig.

Fred I'm sorry but I don't think it's a nero. Nero means black in Italian, and you fig is reddish.  If you don't mind can you tell us where you got it. I'd say leon is right the figs and leaf pattern looks more like my Sal's Corleone aka Aldo. It's still a great fig and in many people top ten but it's prone to splitting and souring with too much rain. don't know if you caught it yet but your basil has gone to seed so you'll probably have basil popping up in your pot next year.

I purchased the fig at Bills figs. I may have confused the name. But no matter it produces awesome fruit. One person thought it might be a Negroone. Lol in the a basil. With some luck it will be all over the yard.

Sorry to be a nitpicker but I checked my list of Bill's figs and I also emailed Bill to be extra certain. He does not sell any fig called "Nero." As I stated in your other thread, he sells a couple of figs called "Neri" but they both have white /yellow interiors and are NOT the fig you have pictured.

The said fig is Sicilian red.

Well then I don't have a Nero. Maybe a red Siciallian though the fig looks similar but darker than the pictures I've seen. Does bill sell a Negronne out of curiosity? Not sure the leaves are right for this one though.

Bill sells both Negronne and VdB

Nero in my friend home, Asti, Italy.
