never seen grey mold on cuttings before..

so..been busy has heck. today, after neglecting the Panache cuttings for about a week, i checked them. they had what looks like grey mold on them.

i'm very familiar with white fuzzy molds, and not worried about white ones.. but what the heck is with grey molds? never seen them before.

i washed them in ab soap, let try and changed paper towel and bag. hope they stay nice without them again.

I have had white mold. Black mold. Green mold. Grey mold . And even pink mold. Yes that's pink mold and it looks wicked under a black light.

pink one would be neat :)

Pete,

I'm with Dave.  In my short time starting cuttings I've had the white, black and grey mold.  None have resulted in the loss of a cutting, but it almost got my Green Ischia.

this winter rooting isn't working out as nice as i thought. i lost good number of cuttings so far. more likely about 7. that's after moving to the cups. most of them will mold.. dry up.. and rot. at mold stage, i'm able to get rid of the mold, but sooner or later, they dry up and start rotting.

i think it has something to do with lack of fresh air and sun. it will be most likely my last winter rooting. i'll go with spring rooting after this one. i like to move them fast and get them out into the sun and fresh air first. i lost two varieties already.. one i couldn't help much at all. even before getting to the cup, it had massive mold rot in the bag. the other.. no clue what happened to them. did well.. then dried up and started rotting. oh well.

I can NOT root Panache cuttings!!  Gray mold is a primary culprit in the demise of 9 cuttings, all at different times and different methods.

IT IS NOT MEANT TO BE!!!

danny.. yeah. it's Panache cuttings. i never seen grey mold before. the cuttings are still good. they are in 3 seperate bags. i'm hoping at least one will make it. total of 10 cuttings. they will get about a week more in the baggie and will go into cup. they are getting hardened on the bottom now.
