New Dan Fig

I bought this tree some weeks ago from Almost Eden.  Does anyone else have it?

Reason I posted was just to make some observations compared to my other fig trees from AE, and I could not find any results from a "New Dan" search.  It is staying compact far as node spacing and the leaves all seem different, maybe just because it's young?

Does anybody know any more about this variety than the folks at AE?  This is their description...

New Dan Fig

Ficus carica 'New Dan'

New Dan fig is just that...new to me.  We were told it is good...try it out!  Let me know what you think!

Sorry I have never heard of it, I hope someone else can help you out Charlie.

Maybe it's the top secret BB 10 in disguise lol

First, you need to find Dan.

i have it.  I think its going to be a good fig.

The leaves remind me an Unk. Pastilliere, and the growing habit too. Seeing the fruit would help, of course.

How old is yours Dennis?

Charlie, I am sure they have a good reputation but they know very little about what they are selling, this is their description:

So maybe you could contact them by email or text/phone and ask where you can get more info....their source of info.

I will do that Wayne.

It's elementary, my dear Watson...."New Dan" translated means send to Danny K., I always need "New" figs,  LOL

Good response Danny K.

Hi Charlie,
I have several ones as well. Those are the mystery fig trees.

I cherish them until I know what they are. So far one toad, several chrysalis and some princesses . Not bad .
Even, if someone else has bought the "Dan fig" ... both trees could be very different as "Dan fig" is not a known strain, they can sell cats and dogs (toads and princesses) by that name.
So grow your tree and see what comes out.
Here I've seen sales on said to be Brownturkey trees ... Well, they all were different and one espaliered tree had a photo of a yellow fig ... Which was even worse to my eyes - BT is not yellow ...
So tell us in two years :) .

Whatever it is Charlie it looks like you already have it growing well. Looks very healthy and happy.

Me: Where/who came up with your "New Dan" fig variety?  It is growing well for me and I'm curious about its origin.

John:
I really cannot remember... but sure it came from northeast US.
