New Fig Friends!

Hello Fellow Fig Fans,
I've been following along and learning a lot and first off I'd like to say THANK YOU to Encanto Farms and to the Figs4Fun Forum! My family is new to fresh figs but we fell madly in love after 'discovering' them and now we can't get enough! So far we have a small potted collection and a few grounded trees, plus Grandma & Grandpa got dragged into the fun and have several variety growing too! As you all know, Fig Fever is highly contagious.
I'll tell you this: The handful of F4F Forum members I've reached out to for advice or just 'fig talk' have ALL been Friendly, Positive & Helpful! You know who you are :) So is it that Figs draw Good People to it, or is it that Good People are drawn to Figs? (wait, same thing?!?!)
As far as Official Introductions go:
I'm Dave C (& Family) from Southern CA Zone 9B :)
We stumbled on figs when hunting for passion fruit at a local farmer's market - grabbed a $3 fig basket, gobbled them quickly. . . and the quest for More Figs began!
Until now, I've spent most of my time on the veggie side of the garden, but this Fig Thing changes everything! After reading about the various ways to propagate cuttings, we've been experimenting and having some success - Too much fun having these little babies growing and now they're starting to take over the house! We're here to learn, share, grow and have FUN!

Nurturing: Black Jack, Black Mission, Brown Turkey, Celeste, Conadria, Flanders, Genoa, Kadota, Panache, Vista

If you can *HELP US* expand our collection with something you LOVE, Please PM! :)

Here's a recent pic of me and my youngest by a fig we found in front of the Mission Basilica San Diego de Alcala. This is supposedly where Father Junipero Serra brought the original Black Mission figs to this country in the late 1700s -
she's not as excited about it as me haha!

Dave,
Thanks for a beautiful introduction and some nice photos! The climate we live in is so good for figs that even the crappiest variety turns out a tasty one :)
The varieties you have is a nice start, just be careful not to go over the top too quickly !

Welcome Dave to the Forum, you may want to check out Dave Wilson Tree Nursery, they supply California with some good varieties, I am looking to buy a Genoa fig tree.

 Hello Dave,
I enjoyed your introduction and photos..
Fig attraction is a strange phenomenon.  I'm happy that you and your family have been bitten by fig bug.  Now for a lifetime of enjoyment and raising your kids to be fig spotters. [image].
