I just bought my first three fig trees in April. I have had them in my High tunnel in 5 gallon pots and two of the little 3 foot trees have figs. One of the trees was supposed to be a Desert King but it has blue fruit so that is probably not the case. The other fruiting tree is supposed to be a brown turkey but nothing has ripened yet . I will try to send a picture. I am going to need some suggestions about how to over winter my trees in NY State. I would like to grow enough fig trees to sell figs at the farmer's market. Linda

PS the white stuff on the leaves is dust. My chickens like to go in the almost empty tunnel and dust bathe :) Then they shake themselves off and cover everything in dirt. I wash the leaves off every once in a while. LOL I guess I better tomorrow. Linda
The fig is not Desert King:I wonder where you bought it from?If Desert King is not what it suposse to be ,the peobability is huge that the other trees you bought from the same vendor ,are also unknown.
I bought my figs from Willis Gardens before learning that I should look up sellers on Dave's Garden before making a purchase. They have pretty bad press on there. I sent the company an email and they confirmed that it is not a Desert King. The company representative says it is an Italian Everbearing which is one of the other trees that I ordered. What are the odds that they could have switched the tags on the trees during shipping? Here is a photo of what is supposed to be my Brown Turkey fig.Linda
Linda,Very interesting you brought this up. Please see this thread for a possible 'bird of a feather': http://figs4funforum.websitetoolbox.com/post?id=4825888&highlight=willis+hardy+chicago
