New fig trees in Arizona

So i am planting a new fig tree in arizona and it was looking good for the first week or so but now the leaves are starting to curl and fall off... I have it potted in a 15 gallon bucket and watering it about every 3 days. it is averaging anywhere from 105 to 115 here and just wondering if that is enough of water for the fig tree. also should I be alarmed that the leaves are falling off or is it from root shock from being transported into a container? I have planted fig trees in the ground but never in a pot and have never came across this problem before. Any and all advice would be helpful.

you can buy a moisture meter, but if you jamb your index finger into the pot, that will tell you all you need to know.
partial shade is a good idea for a month or so.

I'd put it in the ground in a Arizona! In a pot with thatu kinda heat could probably kill it! I transplant trees all the time In Full bloom with large figs, and I've never had problem! Never, I add a little super thrive water the heck out of them and no issues, I'd bet it's the pot with that heat you're killing that tree, the sun hits that pot heats the root ball up to 120 or whatever and it's stressing the tree, I'm in nj when we get days in the 90's the trees suffer in those pots, I'll water 3 times just to cool the roots off!
Good luck

I'm here in Phoenix, Az. When it got over 100°, some of my potted Figs started turning yellow and leaves dropping. I moved them to get only the eastern sun and gave them more water, about 2x a week. But the plant and leaves are sprinkled daily around 6am for a few minutes. They are all mulched and the young trees shaded. They are all doing well and seem happy.
