Must be good figs if he wont share :).. Nice find.

looks like celeste to me.  Oddly enough, I have several rooted cuttings from a fig tree also located at a NAPA store here south of Bham.  I labeled them NAPA figs (not to be confused with the CA valley), just to add to the fig confusion!  These have a breba crop so I'm thinking BT.  I also took cuttings and air layers from 3 old homesteads in Montgomery.  One of which is within a few blocks of the Capital, the original Confederate Capital and Martin Luther Kings home.  These all appear to be some form of Celeste.

by the way, I see the term "heirloom celeste" on occasion.  What make the tree heirloom or not?

that term is used loosely. Heirloom Celeste to me would be a fig that grows widely in a perticuler area
But thats a guess I came up with.
And i was going to name my cutting napa. Lol

I call a tree a heirloom if it has a known history of being grown over a long period of time.  My Celeste trees originated from a cutting I took 25 years ago from an old tree that my Great-grandparents planted in the 1920's. I call it a Heirloom Celeste.

I was so busy admiring the wildflowers when I lived in Alabama, that I totally failed to notice fug trees. I may also have been distracted by all the people telling me that if I touched spanish moss, I'd get chiggers, and then I'd have to put nail polish on my legs.

Richard you are so lucky.  Behind my Napa store is.......Sams club parking lot.     Lots of citrus growing here   no figs.  sigh     Joyce :(     what fun it would be to ride around treasure hunting.

Thats what jon does in California lol
