Hi all,
   I am new to this board and I wanted to introduce myself.   I am from Central New Jersey (Zone 6) and always grow anything I can from fruits to vegetables to grass :)

My greatest memory of my grandparents growing up was my grandfathers fig bush (wasn't really a tree in shape) that he brought with when he immigrated to America from Sicily in the 1930s and it remained with him unitl he died.  I was too young and not fore-thinking enough to try to save it when he passed, nor did anyone in my family care enough.  Although I have no fig trees today, I can still taste the ones he grew

I am here because I want to have more than the memories.  I would love to plant 2-3 fig trees in my yard.  I remember as a kid the winter prep requirement to help the plant out through the cold winters and the thought only excites me.

Welcome Sam. "If you let me be, I will eat them, Sam you'll see!" One of my favorites to read to my kids. I have similar "fig" memories but was lucky enough to end up with a cutting from the original tree.
