New fruit coming on. Is it too late?

My trees are putting on new figs this late in August. I think this one is a Celeste. How long till these get ripe?

i think that depends on the figs and the weather around your area. the figs take about 85 days to ripen. so if your trees start to put out figs now, it won't be until late Nov until they ripen.

this worked for me for Paradiso Gene last year. for whatever reason, my last fig was in early Nov from Paradiso Gene and it was still good. our day time temp is around 60-80 during that time.

my VdB was all gone by then and whatever stuck around never ripened.

I have a couple of trees putting on new figs right now also.  I think that if we get enough heat and no frost till mid to late November we'll be OK.

That's the answer I was looking for. I should be ok.

My little trees are doing the same thing. No frost here, so they should be OK. Not sure about 'good' taste when maturing in the shorter days however, but the desire to try them is just too great. I have been thinning some so the remaining fruits will have a better chance.

Thinning that's good advice!

I'm also knocking off many of the really tiny fruit as there is no way they ripen up by fall for me. Two months to go for me in my area so anything bigger than a nickel should make it to the finish line hopefully. I'll probably leave a few branches unadultered just to see what comes of them.
