New Here

Hello!!

I am brand new here and brand new to figs. I bought 1 BM last year from a guy on the side of the road. It produced 3 figs. They were amazing. But I think that I got an infection from them. I went to see the Doctor, and he said it was a rare case of Bacterial Fig-chinellosis.. It comes from eating figs and the constant desire of acquiring many Fig Trees.

So the Dr. prescribed the antidote. Acquire as many different fig tree varieties as you can until the symptoms subside.

So....this year I have started with, A Peters Honey, Dalmatie, Italian White, Italian Everbearing, Ariana White and Black, Chicago Hardy, Violette De Bardeaux, Italian Honey, LSU Purple, Marseilles.
I also have Ronde de Bordeaux and  Col de Dame Blanc cuttings on the way. Unfortunately symptoms are getting worse.

Thanks to an amazing group of people for all the insight that I have read over the last couple of weeks!!

Sounds terminal to me. Enjoy those figs while you can.

Lol.. Me too. I started with Sultane and Brown Turkey.

Less than a year, my fig variety increases tremendously ;D

Aside of 2 mentioned above, I am now have Bordissot Rossa, Panache, Purple Jordan, Higuera Blanca, Enrico, Masui Dauphine, Taiwan Golden Fig, Bordissot Blanca Rimada, Iraqi, Napolitana negra, Melanzana, Albacor Comuna, LSU Gold, Violette de Bordeaux, Noire de Caromb, Brunswick and Verde Branco Gigante.

yeah, enjoy the figs while we can.

Welcome!

I live for the rush of cutting open and eating fresh figs...there better be figs in heaven (hehehe)!!

Hi,
Welcome to the forum !
You need to have more trees to tame down the disease !
You then need a yearly booster shot and get some more trees. Say 3 new trees every year !
Well, prepare to buy more land ...

Lol...welcome, Greg! And, yes, it is terminal, I'm afraid...so just give in AND ENJOY!

welcome
