Welcome to the forum and to Texas Audrey.
It would be nice to know what varieties these guys have.
My Doree (Goutte D'or), Figue de Marseilles and Dalmatie are still very small, and slow growers this summer when compared to other varieties I have, so it's hard to tell how well they will do in Austin, TX.
I lost both Madeleine des deux saisons plants last winter and will get it replaced next spring. It seemed to be more sensitive to cold than others.
My Nordland fig which some say it's similar to Long d'Aout is one of my favorite first year figs. I was going to get Long D'aout but postponed it since I have too many plants at this time.
As for top flavor and productivity, you should consider Col de Dame(Blanc, Noir or Gris). Although slow to ripen figs, It seems to be at home here in Texas. You will love this fig.
The Black Madeira despite being late to ripen is a top tasting fig and very productive here also.
I surrounded my figs with chicken wire after mice chewed the bark and rabbits ate the leaves, and managed to save a few figs this year.
I saw some squirrels nearby but they were not a problem this year.
