New member intro

My name is Danny and I am brand new. I live in Northern California. I have always enjoyed gardening and growing fruit trees, but I have never been hooked by a specific fruit tree until this past couple of months. My son gave me a fig tree a couple of years ago and this year was the first time it had a crop.
I did not realize how much portuguiz women loved figs until I watched my wife cook figs. I have gotten hooked on growing figs now and it seems to effect me with some intensity. I found this forum and I am very impressed with the topics of conversation. I think it is a great learning site and I am glad to be here.
My regards to all of you.

Hi Danny and welcome.  I don't know what it is about figs but they consume you and next thing you know you have more figs than you have room for.

welcome Danny.

Hello Danny and welcome to the best forum for figs on the planet! There are alot of really good people here. Enjoy
Jeff

Hi Noss:
The fig is a black mission. She boiled them in water and when the water dissolved the sweetness of the figs was enough to sweeten it.
Its great breakfast treat. I will have to ask her if she added anything.

Welcome! If you're in the central valley you're in a great place for figs. My first fresh fig came from a tree in Sacramento. I didn't even know what it was. Hooked on first bite.

Welome home!! Very generous people on this site.

Welcome to the group!

Welcome Danny.

Welcome to the Forum Danny.

Dan the man welcome.

Welcome, Danny!  Please give us an idea where you're from.  I'm down in the Delta 30 miles south of Sacramento.  I will be going to at least a couple of California Rare Fruit Grower scion exchanges which are a good source for free cuttings, if you're interested. :)

Welcome Danny.

Hi Danny!  Glad you made it - it's a great place in the forum!

Welcome, Danny!

Welcome Danny ! You'll love it here!!

Welcome Danny from Southern California!  Nice to have you here.  My favorite cooked figs happen on the BBQ!

Hi Harvey:
I am located north of Sacramento about an hour on Hwy 5 close to the town of willows. I would certainly be very interested in the near future. I am very new to the knowledge of figs and my interest is certainly locked in. I live in the country and I have now started to scour the neighborhood for and cuttings I can get. I'll let you know how it goes. Looking forward to meeting you one day. I think this is a great forum.
Thanks

Danny, I don't get up that way often but will be driving through on 12/21 on my way up to Idaho.  If you're every down this way and want to stop by, send me a PM or email.  I'm 20 minutes west of Flag City (I5 and Hwy 12).

Hi Harvey:
I will certainly surprise you one day and drop in. I have been reading many of your posts and I am really interested in what you are doing or growing in your place. Have a GREAT HOLIDAY.

Thanks for the welcome.
I checked out the garden site. What a great collection you have. I'only got one Brown Turkey and a Franciscan Black mission. I am greatly interested in getting some cuttings if not too expensive.
I see now that I need a little more info.
Danny

I spent a fair amount of time working in your area.  Fig trees grow without protection there.   I believe you have the wasp because I came across a section of the river where there were a few fig trees growing on the bank next to each other.  They were pretty inaccessible from above and they didn't look tended.  There were a variety of ages.  Unfortunately it was so long ago I can't remember where it was.

I do live very close to the Sacramento river. I hope the wasp is hanging around.
I was in my little town the other day and ran across two fig trees growing in this commune garden.
I don't know what they are but I will take a picture and upload it soon so yoy can take a look.
Maybe you might be able to tell what they are. I.m sure I can get a cutting or more.

Danny

Wish list: anything available.

Danny, I don't know what happened to your other thread.  I was going to send you a PM or email but you've disabled both.  I could give you an idea of what's available if you get in touch with me.
