New Roots on Cuttings with Leaves - Happy

I have Sultane cuttings from Jon and Ronde de Bordeaux from a generous forum member. Both are planted in quart containers full of perlite and have been in the humidity chamber under light 14 hrs/day and on a mat at 80f for a several weeks now.

Both have had nice leaves especially the Ronde de Bordeaux. The RdB leaves have long fingers and are different than all of the other varieties I have. I was surprised how big the leaves were getting and how I was not seeing any roots that made it to the side or the bottom of the container.

I checked this morning and some of the cuttings of both have roots now. That makes me happy.

A great sign, much anticipated!  Congratulations!

Nice, Rich. I have a few St.Jeans which, at least in my case, are stubborn rooters. Hoping they decide to put some roots out soon. Since you're a big fan of hydro,  wanted to ask if you use hydro methods to root, or if you root then move to a hydro environment. Not sure I want to go that route since my area is generally favorable for growing things outdoors, but would be interested in maybe integrating some techniques in the early stages.

I root in perlite then after roots and leaves grow I use hydro solution to water the new plants

Good for you Ronde should grow very well for you.

Congratulations!

Nice going Rich. Will you be hardening off in soil or in perlite?

I will transplant each one to a # 5 nursery with MG + 10 to 20% perlite and top with hardwood mulch.
The entire quart container --- I will not shake off the perlite from the roots.

I have around 50 cuttings that grew for me this winter plus my Dad is sending me a bunch of Calliope's red Greeks he grew. All going into 5 gallon.

Fair Lawn Fig Farm..... :)

I have to get Bills's meetings on my calendar

I used to live a mile or two down the road from Bill's.  Might stop by the next time I come up to pick up orchids.  Nice job on getting your figs to root.

Thanks I need to document how I do my rooting so others can follow. I think I could get a wooden chair leg or a broomstick to root sometimes :)
