I think a few folks are just passing time or killing their boredom. I think by now everyone realizes this is a very smelly pile. 
At least I hope they do. He went on another thread of mine and tried to get me going there but I've said what I needed to to him and now it's time to just ignore him.
Why this forum attracts so many troubled folks escapes me.
I'm bummed as we lost another good member tonight (SCfigFanatic). Doug deleted everything and he's gone.

Did you get my PM?  I caught you doing the same thing on GW forum.  Are you still trying to claim to be 13 years old, or what ever you keep changing it to when you get busted,  but for some reason can post 50 times a day during school hours.   You are busted!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Never once uttered a lie on this forum, ever. For that to be where you went first, discredits you, sir. I honestly responded to an open post on an open forum about a NEW RULE some yahoo just made up about grammar and how that semantic should play into the consideration someone might be given in receiving what, in my mind, is a gift from God. Coward? You fired me up, honestly it looked like you were "sniping" on non native speakers of English, and that really irked me. I don't care if you have 1.5k posts to my few, your rule sucked. If my response sounded sickened and condescending, even rude, yes, you got it. I was dealing with a grammar Nazi, and any claim to some unspoken rule about seniority was moot. If you were joking, looks to me it was an inside joke - between you and the troll! I apparently got sucked in, but stand by my initial broadside as your post struck a nerve. Sir, I will honestly identify myself as someone who can be a real big prick. And I'm competitive. So yeah, nobody wants enemies. May I suggest if you wish to continue this, sir, that you use PM. You can trash my character all you wish here, but know that this just might get uglier than it already is and drive others away as well.

The first sentence is a lie and that you can't admit it makes me unwilling to discuss this any further with you. There is no need for you to respond as I have no desire to take this any further. Think that trolls wouldn't attack a well meaning bunch of people talking about figs? Think again. We are ripe pickin's. Gentlefolk, you must not feed the trolls. Some of us are clever/bored enough to troll trolls, but there is a finesse and dedication that few have the stomach or desire to see played out. More often than not, you are playing into their hands. 

Classic troll posts may have certain hallmarks or commonly or uncommonly known untruths or even half truths. A good troll will do some cursory intelligence, lurking in a few threads to get just enough data points to a) appear passable to the average informed bunch in a forum, and b) will come off amazingly stupid to the old hands of the forum. This is designed to catch as many good intentioned people into their web as they can. Once in their web, a troll will sit back and enjoy the spoils of the war, the very sweetest being what has occurred this thread, namely groups of people fighting against each other.   

You might ask why someone would want to do this. I say 95% of trolls are fueled by boredom. 

Don't feed the trolls.

I do not see anything wrong in the way you started this thread. The situation with the recent spate of hyper-posts was getting out of hand and it was not defensible. Someone trying to defend it and using words like 'Man-ginna' and 'Spelling Nazi' etc is just creating more annoying situation for most readers. If not mgginva then someone else would have initiated similar thread for jc case.

There is nothing wrong with the Forum. it is just some posters creating bad situations that annoys other readers.

No, Michael, it was an intentional, and strategic misspelling which allowed me to double down on a spelling oriented thread. Go wash out.

I do object though that this is my thread and you are calling it a "troll thread" when in fact it was just a perhaps poorly done take off on the HBO show Politically Correct where they have a new rules segment every show.

I do, however, recognize that we quickly went from an attempt to entertain to a number of conflicts so I lost control and  . . . hmmm control -

I seem to have struck a vein of humorless and voracious zombies that see only fight fight fight.

I use references to TV shows and movies a lot. It may be my past experience in the film industry or my lack of creativity and originality but nonetheless it is always harmless and always meant to entertain.

In this instance perversion has taken the day and we're all hiding in our fox holes - or in my case my man-gina. 

Your description of a troll's methods is brilliant. I, sir, take my hat - or at least my toupee, off to you for finally bringing lightness to a thread that's been "trolled'.

I'm considering deleting it as it bares no resemblance to what I intended it to be and has only brought about darkness.

Except - in the case of the person who wishes us to believe he's a child - and now who seems to now be completely busted.
