new sprouts

The trees that I started this spring are finally showing a few small fruits here in central Ohio.  Will there be enough time for them to mature and harvest?
Is there anything I can do to slow the clock or speed the maturing process?

mrforemark,

First I want to say congrats!

In my opinion and being where you are I think anything developing from this point on is considered in the shaded area. They could or could not mature and ripe in time.

But without looking at the product it is difficult to say. Do you have any pictures?

Assuming the plant or plants are a decent size here's what I would do;

I would snip off the bud tips to stop the plant from growing ( will force it to branch later though ).
If the branches have three or more figs on them I would remove the newest fruit and keep the oldest alone and intact.
This way by removing the bud tips and the newest fruit you are sending back most of that energy back to the older fruit. Hence making it possible for the older fruit to develop and mature quicker.

Hope this helps and good luck.

I am sure others with much more expertise than myself will chime in soon. Still early.

Good luck
