new to fig!!

Anya....hold out on making any purchases from nurseries just yet....some forum members may be able to help you.  Don't give up.   And who knows, those 2 plants, once they leaf and bear fruit---we may be able to tell you what they are.

PS--check your PM.

Thanks Jason and Sara!! After reading your advice I really feel like my reservation was correct and I'm going to take a deep breath and count one to ten and wait for fall. I'll just have to tell Encanto and Durio farms I decided to wait, when they answer me, that is.

Jason, you are so kind. I'd deffinately stick around, probably dont have anything to contribute but would love to read!!

Anya

Hi Anya,

Don't sweat over your little purchase.  Try to use them as a learning experience and hopefully you can save them.

I have an extra Blue Celeste, Golden Celeste and LSU Gold that I will send you in the fall once they go dormant.  They are about 3' plants right now so should do fine for you next spring.

Welcome to the forum.

Cathy.....you are FABULOUS!!!

Cathy, you are too kind!! I would love to get them! Please let me pay the shipping!!

YEs I took it as a learning experiance - I'm a lot more calm now then this morning. lesson learned to do research on the nursery too :)

Cathy, my heart is warmed!

Don't Mess with Texas!

anya,

if you are interested, i'll have some violette de bourdeaux cuttings avaiable. you will have to root them. i also have some small cuttings that are rooting now, some unknowns and some unknown israeli red. not sure if any of them will make is. if they do, you have have one or two. i'm new at rooting and already threw away one of the cuttings due to mold.

jason doesn't have to drive 6 hrs to get here. i'm here in durham :)

violette de bourdeaux (VdB) that i have is about 1.5 yrs old. it fruited for first time this summer starting 8/14. i have been have one or two fruits everyday since. tastes great. but it's not a large fruit. about size of ping pong ball. i hope it will do better as it ages.

you can see the picture of the fruit here.

anya - you are in good hands here

OMG you guys are super nice! Pete, I would gladly accept the cutting. Never root anything more than basil and lemongrass before, but I will try! lol.

Please let me know who to proceed with this. I can drive to your house, meet you some public place... let me know. I'm in downtown.
Thank you!
Anya

Anya,

I can meet you on Thursday of this week. I'm near SouthPoint mall. I can meet you at Starbucks near 54/55. I'll give you direction tomorrow.

I'll bring 3 summer cuttings of my VdB, and a very small unknown. The unknown is ready to be moved into 1 gallon pot once you get it home. This is either VdB or Brown Turkey.

Unknown Israeli Red are not yet ready.

Pete

Thanks Pete, I can go to that place easily, it's very close to my work (the one close to Subway, isnt it?, on 55) It is depend on when you can meet. I can go during work, or after work (but I have to go pick up my son at 5.15PM). Please let me know if I could give you anything in return, I didnt have my asain herb garden this year so I couldnt give you that, but i can give you tons of Thai basil seeds though :D. I really appreciate your kindness.
Anya

yes, that's the place. one with subway and car wash.. shopping center with food lion.

i'll be there around 4:30 or so on thurs.

you don't need to bring anything. most of my cuttings were going to be traded, or given away at the spring.

i'll see you on thurs.
